Serafino MACCHIATI (1861-1916) La rupture Circa 1900-1905 Oil on canvas (original) signed and located Paris lower right H. 55 cm / L. 38 cm Small restorations Art deco frame in wood and gilded stucco Our painting, treated in grisaille, dates from the artist's Parisian period, between 1898 and 1916. It appears in the unpublished short story by Clifford Carlisle Osborne Quelques notes dans le ton de là ! published in 1908 in the illustrated encyclopaedic magazine "Je sais tout" (Paris, Ed. Lafitte, p. 773). A work by this artist is kept in the Musée d'Orsay in Paris (Le visionnaire, 1904) and others in museums in Italy: Offices of Florence, Castello Sforzesco in Milan, Lugano, Rome and Venice.
