Albert BESNARD (1849-1934). The Sick. Charcoal drawing signed, preparatory study for the decoration of the Faculty of Pharmacy in Paris. 27 x 19 cm.
In 1883, while in London, Albert Besnard applied to decorate the Hall d'Honneur of the Ecole Supérieure de Pharmacie in Paris. He produced a series of 17 oil-on-canvas panels, mounted on the walls. His work was inspired by two themes: the making of remedies, and the origin and evolution of the Earth's population. The decor was completed in 1888.
