SAUPOUDREUSE ARMORIEE in silver filet pattern, Paris, 1762-1 - Lot 17
SAUPOUDREUSE ARMORIEE in silver filet pattern, Paris, 1762-1768 (farmer Jean-Jacques PREVOST), silversmith Jean-Pierre CHEZELLE, received master in Paris on October 5, 1745, died July 13, 1771. Weight: 64 g. L: 19 cm. The coat of arms, attributed to the de BARRAU family, is probably that of Pierre Firmin de BARRAU (1731-1816). Although the family coat of arms was definitively established in the 19th century as "Argent, a chevron Azure, in base a lion Gules, on the second chief a crescent of the field between two mullets of the same", it seems that there were variants in the 18th century, of which this saupoudreuse may be one (see the seal mentioned around 1755 by Martin de Framond, in his Fonds de Faramond, inventaire, 60J, Rodez, Archives départementales de l'Aveyron, 1986, p68). Expert: Emmanuel de MONTEYNARD
