A TOMBED COMMODE in rosewood and violetwood with diamond-pointed edges, opening to 5 drawers on 3 rows, Louis XV period, stamped by Charles CHEVALLIER (1700-1771, received master before 1738). Royal Belgian red marble top. Ornamentation of gilded bronzes (brought in) with motifs of sea horses, palmette, foliage, cartocuhes and rocaille: hands, key escutcheons, cul-de-lampe, falls and sabots. 83 x 131 x 65 cm (minor veneer loss).
