Rare pitcher from the "Fables" service in polychrome-glazed earthenware with gilding highlights and Japanese-style decoration circa 1880. Lenticular body resting on a ginkgo-biloba tree root. On the front and back, a snowy landscape with flocks of ravens, inspired by La Fontaine's fables "Le Corbeau et le Renard" (The Raven and the Fox).
Red enameled signature below: "E Gallé Déposé et E. Gallé Nancy".
