Alain LE BOUCHER (born 1950). Luchrone. Illuminated sculptur - Lot 308
Alain LE BOUCHER (born 1950). Luchrone. Illuminated sculpture with LEDs and electronic components in a mirrored display case on a wrought-iron base. Total height: 22 cm. Works. Biography: This is how the artist describes his sculptures: "My first Luchrone, in 1978, was the great discovery for me. With tiny electronic materials, there was no need for vast workshops or hammers striking chisels. Electronics are assembled on the corner of a table and light is composed on a sheet of paper." Chance is a great master. In 1980, it led the artist to a microcomputer company, then to a software development company. There he discovered unexplored fields of creation. The small number of artists who walked through the doors of computer companies in the 80s were only interested in the graphic use of machines. Computers in themselves seemed as unexciting as the color beige. Was there any other way to use this new technique? In 1984, on Fernand Braudel's initiative, the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme hosted the first exhibition of Luchrones: light sculptures based on time and light. In the following years, Alain LE BOUCHER turned his attention to public art. In 1986, Charlie, the first monumental Luchrone, was lit up in Bourges, where it still shines today. Three years later, the city of Reims commissioned the Coquille. The artist changes scale. These works are four to six meters high. "From light to light, I've been watching the stars for a long time. I've had a passion for astronomy since childhood. Now accustomed to large formats, the Astrolabes in Val de Reuil (1990), Reims (1991) and Paris (1997) were produced on a scale of 4 metres in diameter. But after a few years spent on rather heavy projects, Alain LE BOUCHER felt the need to return to the lightness and inventiveness of the Luchrones... Alain LE BOUCHER's work can be seen in Paris and Miami at the Lélia Mordoch, Olivier Waltman and Robert Bartoux galleries.
