On the reverse, an old label from Davis Galleries, New York (with handwritten indications probably from Leroy Davis, gallery owner; probably exhibited in this gallery in 1957 (January 10 - February 2).
Seymour Remenick, who has lived in Philadelphia since 1936, trained at the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia (1940-1942), then at the Hans Hofmann School in New York and Provincetown (1946-1948). He then became a member of the National Academy of Design.
An oil and watercolor painter, he taught from 1977 to 1996 at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (PAFA), where he was a much-appreciated teacher.
Many of his paintings are views of his neighborhood and of Gloucester, Massachusetts.
His works are held in several public collections, including :
