CREIL or MONTEREAU, Empire period. SUITE of 5 cups and under - Lot 59
CREIL or MONTEREAU, Empire period. SUITE of 5 cups and under cups and a cup with chocolate in fine earthenware with decoration in cameo painted with the hand "herborisation". H coffee cups: 7 cm. Bibliography: Dorothé Guillemé-Lebon. The French fine earthenware 1750-1867. Page 31 "In this very first period, Montereau, like Creil, Sèvres or Val-sous-Meudon, painted its pieces by hand. It was also at this time that Montereau claimed priority for the heroborisation decoration (1803-1804) over Creil. Indeed, the Englishman Stevenson, who had worked in Montereau, would have taken over this decoration and then registered his patent (1806) to benefit Creil".
