In 1957, the publisher Joseph Foret went to Salvador Dali's house with an impressive quantity of lithographic stones and the idea of creating an extraordinary set of illustrations of Miguel Cervantes' famous book 'Don Quixote'. Dali used an unusual technique, which gained popularity after the publication of the book. Instead of pencil and paint, Dali used an air gun filled with ink. The result was an illustrated book of 12 lithographs published in 1957. Our carpet is a reproduction of one of these.
