The artist's family
Then by descent to the present owner. Between 1902 and 1912, Auburtin modelled on the dancers of Loïe Fuller and then of the American Isadora Duncan (hence the name Isadorables for the young girls portrayed in antique style in Auburtin's work), who had founded dance schools in Saint-Petersburg, Berlin and Meudon. The girls, whom the dancer considered as her children, never posed naked but, very modestly, in tunic....
