Here is an artist who is also fascinated by the history of writing and who is exceptionally brilliant in his work as a wood engraver, where he transmits his graphic and chromatic universe with fervour and ease through his effective choice of successive colours, with precise and infinite shades thanks to the high quality printing inks. Starting from sinuous and mysterious drawings, Michel BESNARD creates a fantastic and narrative universe which takes its source in what art has of more evocative, without forgetting his statues of rigidified paper, full of flavour whose outcome in bronze is quite simply astonishing ". André RUELLAN, art critic Michel Besnard (posthumously) and his wife Roselyne received the insignia of Chevaliers des Arts et des Lettres from Mr Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, Mayor of Rouen, on 25 October 2021.
