Alain LE BOUCHER (born in 1950). Luchrone. Illuminating sculpture with led and electronic components in a glass case with a mirror base on a wrought iron pedestal. Total height: 22 cm. Works. Biography: This is how the artist expresses himself about his sculptures: "My first Luchrone of 1978 will be for me the great discovery. With the tiny electronic materials, there was no need for a large workshop or a hammer hitting the chisel. The electronics are assembled on a corner of a table and the light is composed on a sheet of paper." Chance is a great master. In 1980, he directed the artist towards a microcomputer company and then towards a software development company. There he discovered unexplored fields of creation. The small number of artists who walked through the doors of computer companies in the 1980s were only interested in the graphic use of machines. Computers in themselves seemed as unexciting as their beige color. Was there any other way to use this new technique? At the initiative of Fernand Braudel, the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme hosted the first exhibition of Luchrones in 1984: light sculptures based on time and light. It was public art that occupied Alain LE BOUCHER in the following years. In 1986, Charlie, the first monumental Luchrone was lit in Bourges where it still shines. Three years later, the city of Reims commissioned the Coquille. The artist changes scale. These works are four to six meters high. "From light to light, I have been looking at the stars for a long time. A passion for astronomy that has held me since childhood." Accustomed from then on to large formats, it was on a scale of 4 metres in diameter that the Astrolabes of Val de Reuil (1990), Reims (1991) and Paris (1997) were made. But after a few years spent on rather heavy projects, Alain LE BOUCHER wanted to return to the lightness and inventiveness of the Luchrones... Alain LE BOUCHER's work can be seen in Paris and Miami in the galleries Lélia Mordoch, Olivier Waltman and Robert Bartoux.
